> DAY 1: Rome
Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! At Rome International Airport, you will be welcomed by your private driver and transferred to your luxury hotel. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at your leisure exploring the narrow streets and beautiful piazzas or sampling the local cuisine in one of Rome’s fine restaurants. Ask your Leisure Travel Consultant for their favorite restaurants, cafes and entertainment.
> DAY 2: Rome – Half Day Walking Tour
After breakfast, your licensed English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel lobby. Your private tour will take you on a journey through Rome; a city in which the power and the glory of the Great Roman Empire developed and extended. Your guide will walk you through the enchanting ruins of the Imperial-era, beginning with the Piazza Venezia and its impressive monument dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II and the Unknown Soldier. You will continue to the famous Piazza del Campidoglio designed by Michelangelo, from where you will have a breathtaking view of the Roman Forum. With the remains of the Forum as a backdrop, your guide will present the history and anecdotes on the social and political life of Rome, from its origin to the glorious days of the Great Roman Empire. Proceed to the imposing Coliseum, iconic symbol of Imperial Rome, and one of the most impressive buildings of the Imperial-era.
> DAY 3: Rome
Enjoy the day at leisure sipping an espresso at one of the numerous cafes and exploring more of the deep history, culture and art of Rome on your own. Or take an optional private tour of Vatican Museum and Saint Peter's Basilica. In the museum you will see the famous Sistine Chapel, with its wonderful ceiling depicting Michelangelo Buonarroti's The Last Judgment, and wall frescoes where artists such as Botticelli, Perugino, Rosselli, Ghirlandaio and Signorelli depicted the lives of Jesus and Moses. Continue on to St. Peter's Basilica, where ancient tradition say that is was built at the place where Peter, the apostle who is considered the first pope, was crucified and buried. The interior of St. Peter's is impressive and every bit of space is used to display the finest Renaissance monuments and employs the talents of great artists such as Michelangelo and Bernini, among many others. Also, if open, the Vatican Grottoes can also be visited.
> DAY 4: Rome, Tuscany
After breakfast, meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your private car transfer to your luxury hotel in Tuscany. Tuscany is one of Italy’s most famous regions and is known for its gorgeous landscapes, rich artistic legacy, influence on high culture, and unique culinary tradition.
> DAY 5: Tuscany – Full Day Tour of Chianti
Today venture out into the beautiful Chianti countryside with your driver-guide, stopping in some of the lovely hilltop towns, such as Greve and Castellina. Enjoy wine tastings at local vineyards and explore villages known for their traditional foods: schiacciata con olio (focaccia-like bread with oil) and finocchiona (soft salami with fennel seeds). Drive through the forests where, in October, the famous porcini mushrooms are found. The area is also known for its preserves, and any time of the year you can find mushrooms, artichokes and other vegetables sott’olio (preserved in oil). Visit Panzano in Chianti, where you will have time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Travel to Badia di Passignano, a medieval hamlet and abbey founded in 395 by the Archbishop of Florence. Monks of the Vallombrosan Order still live in the abbey and are the keepers of its cultural and historical treasures. In the evening you will return to your hotel. (B)
> DAY 6: Tuscany
Enjoy a day of leisure in your Tuscan Village or set off for further exploration of the countryside. Ask your Leisure Travel Consultant for their favorite activities and sites in Tuscany.
> DAY 7: Tuscany, Florence
After breakfast, meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your private car transfer to your luxury hotel in Florence. Enjoy your afternoon at your leisure exploring the striking buildings, formidable galleries and treasure-crammed churches of this beautiful city.
> DAY 8: Florence – Half Day Florence Walking Tour
After breakfast, your licensed English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel lobby. Your private guided tour is an enchanting walk through the city of Florence, often referred to as the "Cradle of Renaissance." This tour will take you through the historical streets to the Duomo complex with Giotto's bell tower, the Baptistery with its bronze doors including the famous Porta del Paradiso, and the Cathedral with the magnificent Cupola del Brunelleschi. The highlight of your day will be a visit to the Uffizi Gallery or the Accademia Museum. In the evening enjoy an optional cooking class. Learn how to prepare a traditional Tuscan meal and then indulge in the fruits of your labor along with local wine.
> DAY 9: Florence
Enjoy your day at leisure in the city or take an optional tour to the northern Tuscan towns of Pisa, Lucca, and San Miniato. Ask your Leisure Travel Consultant for their personal tips of favorite activities and excursions in and around Florence.
> DAY 10: Departure
After breakfast meet your transfer in the hotel lobby for the Florence airport where you will to meet your international flight home.
